Offering Prenatal Fitness and Postnatal Fitness Workshops and Class Series in the DC area

These workshops and class series are for moms of all different fitness backgrounds and abilities and are aimed at helping mothers to understand the changes that occur in their bodies during both pregnancy and the postpartum period and how to safely move through these periods while strengthening their bodies. 

 

 

Postpartum Core Rehab Class Series:

 

This 3-week class series is for moms 6 weeks postpartum and beyond who want to learn about rebuilding functional strength to their core after childbirth. 

 

In this class series you will:

  • Practice core strengthening and rebuilding exercises

  • Look at the physiological changes that occur during pregnancy and the postpartum period

  • Work on alignment retraining and proper body mechanics for life with baby

  • Discuss everyday exercises to help rebuild functional strength

  • Practice various breathing techniques

  • Learn about diastasis recti and what you can do to heal and strengthen a diastasis

  • Discover ways to engage, as well as increase the functional strength and resiliency of your pelvic floor muscles

  • Discuss contraindications for exercise during the postpartum period, as well as modifications you can apply in your own activities and classes to help protect and rebuild your core

 

 

Prenatal Core Strength Workshop:

 

The prenatal workshop has been created to provide expectant moms with a safe exercise program that is tailored to their own prenatal needs and will help to build core strength as they prepare for the birth of their baby.

In this workshop you will learn:

 

  • About your changing anatomy and how this impacts posture, muscle tone, and health

  • What movements to avoid during pregnancy and alternative exercises that you can incorporate into your exercise routine

  • How to perform safe abdominal strengthening exercises

  • Discover ways to engage, as well as increase the functional strength and resiliency of your pelvic floor muscles

  • Exercises to help improve and maintain posture 

  • Exercises to help alleviate common pregnancy complaints

  • Healthy body mechanics for daily activities

  • Ways to incorporate movement into your labor (as well as the benefits of movement and position changing)
